March 2015Public Playa performance by Andria Moraleson view March 6 – 28, 2015opens First Friday, March 6 from 6-10pm[portfolio_slideshow id=1551]Andria Morales and PRACTICE are looking for an intelligent, kind, imaginative partner to craft an encounter with us.Andria Morales shares with you new relationships formed over the course of a month. Using a popular online dating platform, these tenuous beginnings will be put on display as the artist plays out first dates during the show’s opening.  Initiating, maintaining, and deepening new connections via instant messaging, emails, and Google talk conversations, Morales explores identity, vulnerability, sexuality and the potential for “realness” with a handful of willing pen pals selected from over a hundred interested parties. The conversations, images, music and interests they exchange while planning their first date will comprise a public archive of their play.Andria Morales is a visual artist and member of the Internet-based duo Escobar-Morales. Her work explores identity through a variety of media and collaborative experiments. Her solo exhibitions include Last Ride, in collaboration with Beth Beverly, The Rotunda, Philadelphia, PA (2011) The Resurrection of Hun-Nal-Ye, in collaboration with Maya Escobar, Bruno David Gallery, St. Louis, MO (2013), and Yo Soy Oro, in collaboration with Maya Escobar, Taller Puertorriqueno/ HACE, Philadelphia, PA (2014).
