Daniel Cappello: Induction/Conduction
December 6,2024-January 26,2025
First Friday Opening Receptions, Friday December 6th, 2024 6-9pm @ January 3rd, 2025 6-9pm
Daniel Cappello’s new installation Induction/Conduction is the second iteration of the artist's exploration of sound and sculpture that ruminates on his research into nightclub culture, queer futurity, and sacred spaces, grounded by his experience as a patron and employee of gay nightclubs. Equal parts architectural and acoustical, Induction/Conduction transmits sounds and rhythms through an integrated system of channels that flow through scaffolded structures. Electronic musicians are invited to connect to the sculptures, lending natural reverb and resonance to the compositions. Tensions arise as the body moves around the installation, creating a network of sensations that blurs the line between dance music and liturgical atmosphere, a city of the future built as a refuge from the crush of urbanism.
