The 181 compose perceptual and situational spaces that expand, contract, or reassemble as information sloshes about.

The reverse also appears to be true. The 181 Collective are:Artists, a physicist/electronic engineer/musician, a mushroom forager/rockhound, and a linotype operator—any attempts to formalize their practice they view with distress.Brandon Boan, Abby Donovan, Tom Hughes, Jason Rhodes with special guestsBrittany De Nigris, Jared F. Green, Aaron Keith Hoffer, Joe NettaAs far as they can tell, the 181 has been working together since 2007 when they found themselves gathered by the Pacific Ocean with a golden Q, roughly 10 yards of lavender vinyl, and the sea's reflection. Since then they have appeared and composed situations in places like the Stockholm Fringe Festival, Stockholm, Sweden; SPACE Gallery, Pittsburgh, PA; Novella Gallery, New York, NY; an alley in Eugene, OR; the National Centre for Contemporary Art, St Petersburg, Russia; Galleria Artra, Milan, Italy; and most recently Unsmoke Artspace, Braddock, PA.In November the 181 will conduct Considerations Relating to the Shape of Equilibrium as part of the Residenze Insensate project with Cose Cosmiche in Milan, Italy
