January 2015Digital LoveA new video installation by Amber Johnstonon view January 9 - January 31, 2015Opens First Friday, January 9 from 6-10pm10857837_795794647143750_6274912832610847817_nAmber Johnston and PRACTICE invite you to look deeply into the eyes of a digital projection. How long have you gone without looking into someone’s eyes? Imagine being able to look deeply into the eyes of another human being for as long as you want without it getting weird or creepy for either of you.Can it be true that love and connection have become harder to obtain with the use of new communication technologies? Humans look down at their phones when walking down the street, on the subway, in their cars, even at dinner while seated across from another human. It is possible for a person to go an entire day without looking into the eyes of someone else.A new installation by Amber Johnston will explore this phenomenon while also prescribing a possible cure.Though PRACTICE believes a full sensory experience is best experienced at the source, this project can be accessed from the comfort of your own home or on your portable internet device at www.digitalloveproject.com Sean Stoops, Director of Animated Architecture, provided technical assistance for Digital Love.--About the Artist:Amber Johnston grew up in Lexington, Kentucky and now lives and works in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
